Nearly 20 years ago, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) shifted from celebrating National Pharmacy Week (originating in 1925) to celebrating American Pharmacists Month. It was a smart move as pharmacy teams deserve an entire month to recognize our importance on the health care system!
This year, as I reflect on how much we have to celebrate as a profession, it isn’t lost on me that we also face tough battles. Workplace stress, occupational burnout, drug shortages, unfair PBM practices, and financial challenges impact our ability to provide patient care.
At the same time, we are a hardworking, resilient profession! We constantly keep our eye on our why – our patients. During daily challenges, we push forward because we believe in our impact on patient care.
This month, I encourage you to celebrate your contributions to patient care. Invest in yourself. Whether that’s self-care, reflecting on your career highlights and accomplishments, or setting goals and intentions for your continued impact. You deserve recognition – all month long.
Happy American Pharmacists Month to us!

1. Partner Spotlight: Technician Immunization Training
Over the last two decades, pharmacy led immunization education has been primarily focused on the community setting. However, recently there has an expanded effort to train pharmacy teams to immunize and screen inpatients as well. To meet this need, CEimpact partnered with Spencer Municipal Hospital to train their pharmacy technicians to administer immunizations. Their pharmacy now plays a large role in increasing the community’s immunization rates by administering to patients prior to discharge.
