When I meet with student pharmacists to describe what we do at CEimpact, I describe how pharmacy school is the foundation on which you will learn for the rest of your professional career. Pharmacy school is a few years, whereas your “continuing education” and professional development is more than 40 years.
Is that the way we view it though?
I often hear from people who say I just need to get enough CE to renew my license.
The truth is, as professionals, we should be learning and engaging in development every day to expand our expertise.
CE is the marker for which we tell our patients “I am confident I know enough to care for your health”.
I also believe education can bring us joy in our career.
At a time when we all feel burned out, setting a goal and learning something new – a skill or more about a particular area of practice – can be just what we need to get out of that “funk”.
What will you learn today?
Your patients – and maybe a renewed and reenergized you – are depending on it.
As always, have a great week and keep learning!

3. Inspiration for this week
In the spirit of learning something new, I love this message from James Clear, author of Atomic Habits:
“When I go into a situation, I try to keep a mindset of baseline optimism.
When starting the day: It’s going to be a good day.
When meeting someone new: I’m going to like them.
When trying something challenging: It’s going to work out.
Problems will inevitably arise and I’ll deal with them as the situation demands, but my preference is to assume I’m on a winning path until proven otherwise.”
