Key Steps to Track and Trace (DSCSA) Compliance

Key Steps to Track and Trace (DSCSA) Compliance

Pharmacy staff typically assume the drugs they receive to dispense to patients are safe and legitimate, when in reality there hasn’t been a system to assure product integrity. This course reviews the new Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), how to be compliant with the requirements, and how it will significantly impact the safety of drug products.

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Describe the role of the FDA in the assurance of pharmaceutical product integrity, as delegated to the agency through the federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended by the Drug Supply Chain Security Act.
2. List factors that could significantly increase the risk of an illegitimate pharmaceutical product entering the drug supply chain.
3. Outline strategies for pharmacy compliance with the requirements established under the Drug Supply Chain
Security Act.
