There is an abundance of misinformation about pharmacotherapy and lifestyle interventions to manage obesity. Take this course to feel confident in understanding the AGA Clinical Guidelines, educating patients and providers about effective pharmacotherapy, and providing actionable lifestyle recommendations for weight loss.
Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Review the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnosis of obesity.
2. Describe currently approved pharmacotherapy options to treat obesity.
3. Describe key features of the American Gastroenterological Association’s (AGA) Practice Guideline on Pharmacological Interventions for Adults with Obesity.
4. Apply evidence-based knowledge about weight loss to a given patient counseling scenario.
5. Recommend evidence-based pharmacotherapy for a given patient case.
