Overcoming Implicit Bias in Healthcare [Technicians]
Everyone has unconscious, or implicit, bias. When we better understand it, we can start to impact barriers to inclusion. This course discusses the implicit bias link to health inequities and helps health care professionals identify best practices for reducing implicit bias.
This course meets the license renewal requirement in Illinois
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Define implicit bias and its impact on personal, interpersonal, institutional, structural, and cultural barriers to inclusion
2. Identify best practices for reducing implicit bias at the interpersonal and institutional levels
3. Assess the physical and mental effect of implicit bias and racial discrimination on the maternal and infant mortality rate in the United States of America
4. Describe cultural identities of self and others as it pertains to effective cross cultural communication skills
5. Describe racial, identity, cultural, and provider-community relations issues based on perspectives of divers, local constituency groups and experts in the community
