Focusing on the importance of proper injection technique, the course addresses the critical need for using a new needle with each injection and navigates barriers to needle access, including social determinants of health. Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Recognize factors influencing the effectiveness and safety of diabetes injectable medications associated with administrative practices
2. Identify common patient injection errors associated with the administration of injectable diabetes medications
3. Describe common injectable diabetes medications and their correct administration
4. Educate a patient on the importance of proper injection technique, including the clinical implications of needle reuse
5. Analyze the social determinants of health of a patient that may affect diabetes management, and strategies to overcome these barriers
