Through practical insights and real-life examples, this course explores the essential components of the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process (PPCP) and its pivotal role in practice advancement. Course content provides the expertise necessary to instruct learners on identifying opportunities to integrate the PPCP framework into pharmacy practice sites and incorporating components of the PPCP into daily patient care activities. This course promotes the effective utilization of the PPCP as a teaching tool, ensuring consistent application in patient care, alignment with Core Entrustable Professional Activities, and the enhancement of pharmacy learning experiences.
This program has been approved by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as education for Minnesota pharmacy preceptors.
This program has been reviewed by the Texas Consortium on Experiential Programs and has been designated as preceptor education and training for Texas preceptors.
Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Explain why the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process (PPCP) is important to practice advancement.
2. Describe the components of the PPCP “wheel.”
3. Review how the PPCP is reflected in the Curricular Outcomes and Entrustable Professional Activities (COEPA).
4. Discuss ways to integrate the PPCP process into daily workflows.
5. Apply the PPCP process to case scenarios in different practice locations.
