Using Ethical Principles to Make Informed Decisions [Pharmacist]
Have you ever been in a practice situation where you aren’t sure what to do to protect the best Interests of the patient? Deciding what action to take can be challenging. This course provides guidance on ethical principles to help you make informed decisions when the path forward is not immediately clear.
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. State the main principles of ethics that guide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians as they determine the actions they should take for the benefit of patients and for the public.
2. Discuss the provisions of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Code of Ethics and the application of those provisions to common ethical dilemmas in pharmacy practice.
3. Describe an approach to compliance with ethical standards of the pharmacy profession based on generally accepted ethical principles as incorporated into the APhA Code of Ethics.
